“New and improved” golf course featured on WVEC

Scott Cash, Sports Director at the Hampton Roads ABC affiliate WVEC 13, spent the day at the “new and improved” golf course at Two Rivers Country Club.

Chris Warring, Head Golf Professional, and Paul Treolo, Greens Committee Chairman, spoke to Scott about the renovation project and benefits of the improvements to golfers.

Two-time Best of Virginia Award Winner

Virginia Living 2013 Best of VirginiaTwo Rivers Country Club at Governor’s Land has received two “Best of Virginia” awards In the just-released June 2013 issue of Virginia Living magazine.

Mike Prokopik was named the Best Tennis Club Pro in Eastern Virginia and our 18-hole championship golf course received Third Place honors as one of the Most Challenging Golf Courses in the region.

Golf Course Renovations Complete, Tee Off Beginning May 5

After more than 7,000 tons of greens mix, 4,000 tons of gravel, 3,500 tons of fill dirt and 1,800 tons of bunker sand, the golf course renovation project at Two Rivers Country Club is complete.

Our 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course was perfectly rebuilt to USGA specifications with new greens, bunkers and more.

When it re-opens on May 5, 2013, our picturesque Virginia golf course will be the only one in Williamsburg and greater Hampton Roads featuring all 007 Bentgrass greens.

Two Rivers featured in Virginia Golfer magazine

Jan-Feb 2013 Virginia GolferThe current January/February 2013 issue of Virginia Golfer, the official publication of the Virginia State Golf Association, profiled several communities in the region that are “superb choices for retirement or second homes with world-class golf right on your doorstep.”

Governor’s Land at Two Rivers is one of the Williamsburg communities featured in the article, “Golfing into the Sunset.” The article highlights the many benefits of our Virginia golf community, including our “1,482 acres, with 60 percent of it preserved,” tennis, two 25-meter swimming pools and the Two Rivers Yacht Club with 78 floating docks.

The Richmond Boat Show is one of the best boat shows in Central Virginia. The event features nearly 110,000 square feet of boats of all types and sizes, as well as boat lifts, floating docks, marine electronics, water sports and safety equipment.

Support for Sandy Relief with donation to American Red Cross

TRCC Red Cross Sandy DonationTwo Rivers Country Club at Governor’s Land presented The Colonial Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross Chapter with a donation to support Sandy relief.

Patrick Belcher, Interim Chapter Executive of the Peninsula Cluster, Coastal Virginia Region of the American Red Cross received the $8,000 check from Ken Underwood, General Manager, and Bob Lovic, Two Rivers Club President.

Brent Graham receives Certified Golf Course Superintendent designation

Brent Graham, CGCS, Two Rivers Country Club, Williamsburg, VAJoin us in congratulating Brent Graham, CGCS, Director of Golf Maintenance at Two Rivers Country Club. Brent has just been designated a Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

Graham, an 11-year GCSAA member, has been the superintendent at our Virginia private golf course since 2010. Approximately 1,600 golf course superintendents worldwide currently hold “CGCS” status.

Weather clears for a beautiful wedding

Patrick & Kate Wedding, Two Rivers Country Club, Virginia

Congratulations to Patrick and Kate who were recently married in the gazebo. As their photographers, Grant and Deb Photographers, commented, “Sometimes clouds bring rain, and then again, sometimes I think (they’re) there to make the most amazing backdrop for a wedding.” It was a beautiful event.
